Phonathon is Back in Action…

The ladies of Kappa Mu Chapter at Georgia Southern University are hosting the phonathon for the second year in a row and we’re ready for another record-breaking year.

Money raised during the phonathon goes to the Annual Fund, the operating budget of the Foundation which is the source of financial support for leadership programming, life skills education, a portion of the salaries of the chapter consultants, management of the scholarship and philanthropy programs.
Calls will be made April 18 – 21, starting at 3 p.m. EST on Sunday and continuing each evening until 11 p.m. EST.

The caller ID will show Holiday Inn and a 912 area code – when you see the girls calling, please pick up! They are so excited, and sometimes a little nervous, to talk to you. Even if you aren’t able to give this year, take a moment to chat and thank Kappa Mu collegians for giving of themselves so tirelessly!

If there is a specific time you would like to be called, please notify Tracy O’Neal at and we will accommodate your request.

Remember, your tax-deductible donation in any amount is sincerely appreciated!

  1. Yay!! I love the Phoneathon! I had so much fun doing it last year and was so excited when I learned we would be doing it again this year. Make the first call is very nerve wracking. You are calling these people you don’t even know and praying they don’t hang up on you, talk about going out on a limb. One of the ladies there told me this was a greet thing to put on a resume. I had never thought about it before, but she is right. It gives you good practice with business-related phone calls and getting used to rejection. The ladies who are in charge of the phoneathon have great energy that is infectious. Even if you are there for four hours, you still leave loving Phi Mu and feeling good about all the money raised.
Too bad this was our last year hosting it:(
    Happy Blogging!

  2. I think it is great that you all’s chapter was able to host the phone-a-thon again this year! I remember reading the National Phi Mu magazine in the Greek Life Office last year and seeing the feature article on the Kappa Mu chapter. It amazes me how much money can be raised from simply making phone calls. It shows that living out “positive PR” and creating a network can come in handy when it comes to people donating money. The public relations field covers more aspects than we often think it does. I hope that this year’s phone-a-thon went as well as last year’s!!!
